Me

DevSecOps & Platform Engineer 👋

Building reliable, secure, cloud-native systems for 12+ years.

I’m Evan 👨‍💻 — a DevSecOps / platform engineer who’s spent the last decade working across AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes to keep systems stable, scalable, and easy for teams to ship on ☁️🔧.

I’ve supported everything from Amazon’s internal services to large blockchain indexing platforms, working on automation, CI/CD, observability, container platforms, SQL tuning, and security-minded infrastructure design 🔐.

Senior Software Security Engineer

Full-Time💻 Remote📍 US

At Synop, I lead our security, compliance, and core platform engineering efforts. I’ve driven the company through SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, built and maintained the controls behind both frameworks, and act as the primary point of contact for customer security reviews, questionnaires, and platform risk discussions. On the engineering side, I own AWS architecture and CDK-based IaC, design CI/CD workflows in GitHub Actions, manage our macOS/Windows fleet with MDM + Apple Business Manager, and support our Twingate zero-trust rollout. I also build backend services in Java and Rust, maintain critical automation tooling, and previously built a three-node on-prem Kubernetes environment to give engineering a cost-efficient dev/test cluster and cut AWS spend.

SRE

Full-Time💻 Remote📍 US

At Edge & Node, I worked as an SRE supporting The Graph, a large-scale blockchain indexing and querying platform powered by Kubernetes and GraphQL. I managed and operated large multi-cluster K8s environments, deployed new services and stateful workloads, created and maintained CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshot complex performance issues across indexing nodes and GraphQL resolvers. I also supported a sizable Postgres environment—tuning queries, creating indexes, updating major versions, and managing shard configurations for high-volume blockchain data ingestion. Beyond core SRE duties, I handled Okta integration, Cloudflare administration, and other foundational infra work that helped the company scale reliably.

Devops Engineer

Full-Time🏢 On-site📍 Seattle, WA

At Amazon, I worked across two orgs—AFT (Amazon Fulfillment Technologies) and Amazon Connections—supporting both Tier-1 FC infrastructure and a fast-growing internal HR product. In AFT, I handled high-severity on-call for mission-critical warehouse systems, performing deep Linux-level root cause analysis and resolving issues under tight operational pressure. In Connections, I helped scale the team from a 3-engineer startup to a multi-team org across Seattle and Toronto, contributing to backend Java services, infrastructure migrations to native AWS, and CDK-based deployment stacks. I also built and maintained client-side features for the Electron/TypeScript apps deployed to ~400,000 corporate devices, owned integrations with other internal teams, and delivered large ETL/logging workflows using AWS Glue, Lambdas, Kinesis, and Redshift.

Web Services Analyst

Full-Time🏢 On-site📍 Issaquah, WA

At Costco, I worked on the Application and Service Integration team as a DataPower-focused systems administrator, managing a fleet of XI52 appliances and supporting the company’s middleware and API integration stack. I collaborated closely with developers, testers, and application teams to troubleshoot services, deploy and promote configurations across environments, and ensure high availability of SOAP and REST integrations. I also maintained AIX/RHEL systems used for testing and tooling, automated operational tasks with Python and shell scripting, and supported logging and troubleshooting through Splunk. The role required fast, reliable problem-solving in a highly integrated enterprise environment.

Linux/Unix Systems Administrator

Full-Time🏢 On-site📍 Clarksburg, WV

At Fusion Technology, I supported the FBI’s SoSRP/EIMS program as a systems engineer holding a Top Secret security clearance, working across multiple secure dev and test environments. I administered large VMware vSphere deployments (100+ VMs per environment), handled installation and configuration of software stacks across Linux, Windows, and Solaris, and documented repeatable build processes. I worked extensively with IBM WebSphere, IBM HTTP Server, DataPower XML gateways, and Tivoli Directory Server to support SAML-enabled SOAP services. I also managed user accounts via IBM TIM, troubleshot LDAP and bind issues for developers, supported application deployments, and maintained ClearCase-based SCM workflows. The role combined systems engineering, middleware support, and secure environment operations in a high-compliance federal setting.
